Harco Printing - Fastest Sublimation Printer in the World!

Our Process

What is Dye Sublimation/Heat Transfer Printing?

Dye Sublimation/Heat Transfer is really a very simple process.  It is the method of applying an image to any polyester-based product or coated ceramics and metals using three main ingredients: sublimation inks, heat and pressure.

Sublimation ink is unique in the way it converts from a solid to a gas without going to liquid form.  The transformation is initiated by heat and controlled with pressure and time.  There are a variety of heat presses and they can vary in your results.

Harco Printing, Inc. has two methods of printing sublimation--Heidelberg Offset Presses and Mimaki Digital Presses.  In the offset method, we have a few steps involved to prepare for our presses.  First, our artists preflight your hi-res art files. Next, we produce printing plates and compensate for the dot gain.  Lastly, we go to press.  This process is beneficial for large runs.  On our digital presses, we can skip most of the set-up process and go straight to press.  This is for our short-run print jobs.  After printing, your transfers are ready to be cut to size.  We do recommend some drying time before handling.

Recommended Transfer Procedure

All of our sublimation transfers are done with either offset or digital printing processes using the most modern and efficient printing equipment in the world.  Heat presses range according to variation, with times and temperatures for processes including:

For Polyester Fabric Products
Time: 30 seconds
Temperature: 400 degrees
Pressure: 40 lbs.

For Polyester Coated Metal Products
Time: 45 seconds
Temperature: 335 degrees
Pressure: 100 lbs.

Ink Colors

Harco Printing runs a 4-color process using the CMYK color model.  However, we also offer the Pantone Matching System (PMS).  Please note that variations apply in sublimation.

Go Green

Our inks, paper and chemistry are all eco-friendly which we can provide MSDS sheets on all involved to create the final product.  We also recycle all excess paper, metals and chemicals on site.

Sublimation printing involves printing from a solid to a gas onto a finished product.  During this process, we strive to achieve colors desired, but some variations of certain PMS colors can alter.
